Hope of progress in social partnership talks
There are fresh hopes of progress being made in talks between Government and the social partners.
Both sides are to meet between now and Wednesday, ahead of a meeting of Ictu's Executive Council of Congress later in the week.
Unions want new measures aimed at retaining and creating jobs, supporting private sector pensions under threat and protecting people who are at risk from home repossessions.
Last week, unions said they were not optimistic that a deal could be reached and warned members to prepare to take action against cuts in pay and conditions.
SIPTU President Jack O'Connor said he is prepared to hear what the government have to say, but still has reservations.
