Famine victims remembered in Cork
A number of events are being held in Cork today to mark National Famine Memorial Day.
Minister Éamon Ó Cuív, who is Chair of the National Famine Commemoration Committee, will first join a special prayer service in Skibbereen at 1.30pm.
He will then attend a State flag and wreath-laying ceremonies, just before 3pm in Abbeystrewery Cemetery, where some 8,000 to 10,000 famine victims are buried in a mass grave.
