Bombings anniversary to be marked

The 35th anniversary of the Dublin/Monaghan bombings will be marked tomorrow with a ceremony in Dublin.

Some 33 people were killed when three car bombs in Dublin and one in Monaghan Town exploded in the space of 90 minutes on May 17, 1974.

Over 300 people were injured in the explosions.

It is widely believed that the UVF colluded with British military intelligence to carry out the attacks.

Nobody has been prosecuted in connection with the killings.

A special wreath laying ceremony will take place at the Talbot street memorial in Dublin at 11.30am followed by memorial mass in the Pro-Cathedral at 12.45pm.
