FF set to hold on to three of its four European seats
Both Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael could be in danger of losing an MEP, according to an Irish Times /TNS mrbi poll of the four European constituencies.
The new poll shows that Labour could gain from Fine Gael in the East, while Fianna Fáil look likely to be in a tight fight with Sinn Féin for the last seat in Dublin.
Gay Mitchell of Fine Gael leads the field in the three seat Dublin constituency with 26%, followed by Labour's Proinsias DeRossa and Mary Lou McDonald of Sinn Féin on 21% and 14% respectively.
Support for Eoin Ryan is at 11% and he is the Fianna Fáil MEP most at risk of losing his seat.
While he is likely to pick-up transfers from his party running mate, his first preference total will have to improve to have any chance of edging out Sinn Féin.
Independent MEP Kathy Sinnott is another in difficulty in the South constituency.
Brian Crowley of Fianna Fail tops the poll there on 27% followed by former GAA President and Fine Gael candidate, Sean Kelly, on 17%.
In the North West constituency, the poll suggests that Libertas founder, Declan Ganley, is unlikely to be elected.
Despite the slump in Fianna Fáil support, the party looks set to hold on to at least three of its four seats in the European Parliament.
