Public servants to receive pay hikes worth €250m

Thousands of civil and public servants are reportedly set to receive pay increases totalling €250m despite the widespread cutbacks being introduced by the Government.

Finance Minister Brian Lenihan has announced swingeing cuts in public spending and tax increases for all workers to plug the massive hole in the public finances.
