Ombudsman for Children to resume investigation
The Ombudsman for Children, Emily Logan, is expected to resume inquiries into the HSE's handling of the child protection audit of Catholic Church Dioceses.
The inquiries were suspended on Wednesday, because the full file in relation to the investigation was not sent to the office of the ombudsman, as requested.
Officials who met yesterday subsequently uncovered an administrative error by the Health Service Executive's solicitors which resulted in the blunder.
BCM Hanby Wallace solicitors have accepted full responsibility for the error and have issued an apology to both the Ombudsman and the HSE.
The Executive also issued an apology to the Ombudsman before transferring the complete file to Ms Logan's office.
