Teenage girl injured in fall on Croagh Patrick

A teenage girl is recovering in hospital this morning after being rescued from Croagh Patrick in Co Mayo.

The 16-year-old was part of a school group from Co Carlow who were on an excursion yesterday afternoon.

The alarm was raised just before 5pm when the teenager slipped and hurt her back.

The local mountain rescue team lifted her to safety and she is now being treated at Mayo General Hospital.
