Manager saw no weapon in Michael Dwyer’s room

The manager of the hotel in Bolivia where Michael Dwyer was shot dead has said he did not see any weapon in the Irishman's room after it was stormed by security forces.

The authorities in the South American country claim the 24-year-old Tipperary man was part of a plot to assassinate President Evo Morales and was killed following a shoot-out with the police.

However, reports this morning say the hotel manager has told how he went into Mr Dwyer's room afterwards and did not recall seeing a weapon.

Bolivian politicians have launched an investigation into the events surrounding his death last Thursday.

Two other suspects in the alleged assassination plot were also shot dead, while two more men were arrested.
