FG criticises Harney over cystic fibrosis unit

Health Minister Mary Harney has today insisted that the new unit for cystic fibrosis patients at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin will be fully operational by 2011.

Harney was responding to accusations from Fine Gael's children's spokesperson Alan Shatter, who said she should hang her head in shame for betraying CF patients.

Mary Harney responded that she was not going to take any guff from Shatter.

The minister confirmed that the new CF unit in St Vincent’s will go ahead, but under a different payment process.

The unit should be completed by mid 2011, she claimed.
