Four held after botched raid on post office
Four men were arrested today after a botched armed robbery on a post office.
It is believed a shot was fired during the hold-up of security workers delivering cash to the premises on Church Road, East Wall on Dublin’s northside.
An armed masked raider burst into the post office at around 9.20am before threatening staff and demanding money be handed over.
Investigating gardaí said the man fled the scene without any cash.
“One of the security staff received a minor injury during the incident,” said a Garda spokesman.
Four men, all in their twenties, were arrested on nearby Jones Road around 12 noon as detectives launched a number of follow-up searches.
They are being held under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Store Street and Mountjoy garda stations.
