Cut in rent supplement 'could make people homeless'

National housing organisation Threshold has warned that the reduction in rent supplement announced in today's emergency Budget could put people at risk of homelessness if not fairly directed.

Aideen Hayden, chairperson of Threshold, said: “It is not clear where exactly the axe will fall in this Budget but, over time, those who are dependent on social welfare will suffer.
