Workers continue sit-in at Visteon plant in Belfast

More than 100 workers have spent the night inside the Visteon factory in Belfast as part of a dispute over redundancy pay.

Over 200 people were told at lunchtime yesterday that they will only get statutory redundancy following a decision to place the plant in administration.

The workers say they were promised their entitlements would not be affected when Ford sold the plant nine years ago.

They are now staging a sit-in protest in an effort to secure improved redundancy terms.

The Unite trade union says the workforce has been treated disgracefully.
