Father shot dead in 'turf war' murder
A postmortem examination will be carried out today on the body of a man found shot dead and dumped on open ground.
The body of 26-year-old David Lynch was discovered by a dog walker near a block of flats in the Coolock area of north Dublin yesterday afternoon.
The father of one had been shot in the head a number of times.
Mr Lynch’s body was discovered lying beside a low wall on open ground between Newtown Court apartments and Belcamp Lane, off the N32 not far from the Hilton Hotel.
It is believed he may have been shot dead on Sunday night.
His killing is the ninth gun murder linked to gangsters this year with both north and south Dublin worst affected by increasingly bitter turf wars and long-running feuds.
Gardaí insist senior detectives have made significant progress in building cases against suspects in several killings.
