Man appears in court in relation to drug seizure

A 23-year-old father of two has appeared in court charged in connection with a multi-million euro drug seizure in Dublin.

Stephen Mc Elroy, with an address at Bayside Crescent, was arrested yesterday afternoon after 10kgs of heroin was recovered by the Garda National Drugs Unit, following searches of a car and a house in the Bayside area.

The drugs have an estimated street value of between €2m and €8m.

A second man arrested in connection with the seizure remains in custody in Santry Garda Station this afternoon.
