SIPTU to consider invite to talks on DAA dispute

SIPTU's leadership is expected to accept an invitation to talks at the Labour Relations Commission when it meets today to discuss the dispute over pay at the Dublin Airport Authority.

DAA workers at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports have served notice of an eight-hour strike on Thursday in protest at the firm's failure to pay wage increments and increases due under the national pay agreement.

The move was initiated by the local workers and was not sanctioned by the SIPTU leadership, which is set to accept the LRC's invitation to talks today.

The industrial action committee of the union's airport branch is also expected to discuss whether or not to go ahead with the planned strike.
