Age Action says older people have nothing left to give to the economy.

The organisation is urging the Government not to hit the elderly with any further cuts to benefits and welfare payments in the upcoming emergency budget.

It comes as Cabinet ministers meet at Government buildings today, to discuss the budget, which will be announced in ten days time.

The country's finances are under increasing pressure because of the deficit in our tax take.

Age Action's Eamon Timmins said vulnerable people, including those living alone, chronically ill, or on low incomes, are the most at risk.
