The man, who has been named locally as Liam Murray, was found dead in the upstairs bedroom of his home, where he lived alone.
The discovery was made when a friend of the man called to the house at the request of a family member, who was worried that the man had not been seen since St. Patrick's Day.
The dead man's remains were examined at the scene by the State Pathologist, Marie Cassidy, before being taken to hospital for a full post-mortem examination.
