Man and woman quizzed over gangland murder

A man and a woman were being questioned by detectives today after further raids following Dublin’s latest gangland murder.

The 33-year-old man and 35-year-old woman were detained yesterday evening over the shooting dead of Shay O’Byrne, gunned down near his home last Friday night.

The pair were being questioned under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Terenure and Tallaght garda stations.

A 31-year-old man arrested on St Patrick’s Day also remains in custody in Tallaght.

A total of seven people have been arrested over the murder which has been linked to a feud between rival crime gangs in the Crumlin and Drimnagh areas of south Dublin.

It is believed 14 gun murders are linked to the bitter eight-year turf war.
