Civil servants to protest against pension levy
Around 13,000 civil servants are due to mount lunchtime protests at all Government offices today as part of their campaign against the controversial pension levy on public sector workers.
The Civil and Public Service Union says it accepts that its members will have to make a contribution to resolving the current crisis in the public finances.
However, it says the burden is not being shared equally and the Government is unfairly targeting lower and middle-income public servants.
It says today's action won't cause too much disruption to the general public.
