Celebrations to cause traffic disruption

St Patrick's Day parades are expected to cause traffic disruptions in many parts of the country today.

The biggest parades are taking place in counties Cork, Dublin, Limerick and Waterford.

In Dublin, more than 400,000 people are expected to attend the parade, which gets underway at Western Way at 12 noon.

Roads around the city centre will be closed from 7am until 4pm.

AA Roadwatch has said drivers should take extra care on the roads today.
