Ulster Bank today said it would be passing on only a fraction of the European Central Bank interest rate cut to its variable rate mortgage customers.

Most Irish banks have said they will hand on the savings, which could cut hundreds of euro off yearly repayments, while National Irish Bank said its rates will remain unchanged.
