The editor of Industrial Relations News says workers will accept wage restraint measures in order to protect their jobs during the current recession.

Brian Sheehan was speaking ahead of a conference in Dublin today to discuss how the economic downturn will affect industrial relations.

He says Irish workers are willing to engage in pay restraint for the sake of job security.

He also says the social partnership system has succeeded in significantly reducing strike action in pursuit of pay rises.
