Illness Benefit Payments delayed by industrial action

Certain social welfare recipients are being affected by yesterday's industrial action by members of the Civil and Public Services Union.

Some Illness Benefit and Occupational Injury Benefit payments will now be issued one day later than normal.

A small number of jobseekers who are getting paid by cheque may also experience a delay in receiving their weekly payment.

The Department of Social and Family Affairs says it regrets the disruption and says it will inform the public if there is any further impact on services.
