Man wounded in Galway shooting

A man has been injured in a shooting incident in Galway city.

The shooting happened in the Castle Park estate in Ballybane at about 3.30am this morning.

The injured man was taken to University Hospital Galway, where he is said to be in a stable condition.

The scene of the shooting has been cordoned off, and a technical examination is due to take place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
