FF politician calls for independent regulator from abroad
There are calls today for the Government to appoint a regulator from outside Ireland to monitor the Irish banking sector.
Fianna Fáil senator Cecilia Keaveney has asked the Finance Minister to appoint an expert from another country to investigate recent controversy surrounding Anglo Irish Bank.
Professor of Finance Brian Lucey has made the same call, claiming Ireland is in need of a complete overhaul of the regulatory system.
