Man killed in Derry shooting

A man was shot dead in the North early today, police said.

Officers said two masked men entered a house in the Woodland Avenue area of Derry at 12.15am and fired a number of shots, injuring a 38-year-old man.

He died later in hospital.

The gunmen are believed to have escaped in a light-coloured car, which drove off in the direction of Derry’s city side.

Police launched a murder hunt and were appealing for information.
