The Civil and Public Service Union (CPSU) has decided to ballot its members for industrial action, following a meeting today.

The union's leadership agreed to hold the vote today after meeting to discuss the controversial pension levy being imposed on its members, as well as the decision to withhold pay increases due under the social partnership process.

The CPSU executive says the combined effect of these measures is equivalent to a 12% pay cut.

It is meeting today to decide what form of industrial action to take if the ballot of its members return a 'yes' vote.
