Cowen faces day of reckoning over €2bn cuts

Taoiseach Brian Cowen faces one of the biggest tests of his political career tomorrow as he bids to win consensus on €2bn worth of spending cuts.

Cowen has vowed that the Government will enforce decisions at its mid-morning Cabinet meeting if the social partners fail to agree on a national recovery plan after gruelling overnight talks.
