A charity organisation has today appealed to the public to donate old mobile phones.

The Jack and Jill Foundation funds home nursing care for sick children with severe brain damage.

Founder Jonathan Irwin said many people do not realise the value of donating their old phones.

“If you think that 250 old mobile phones equate to the keep of one of our babies for one month, then it makes sense very quickly,” he said.

“On a higher register 20,000 phones would mean a paediatric nurse.”
