Scene of Westmeath house fire examined

The scene of a house fire in Co. Westmeath is being examined this afternoon.

The blaze broke out in the derelict building on the Clara Road in Moate at around 9pm last night, before spreading to an adjoining house.

An elderly man and his grandson were present in the adjoining house, but escaped injury.

Gardaí are not ruling out foul play at this stage.
