Foreign Affairs Minister Micheál Martin today expressed concern at the rising number of Irish deaths overseas after the figure jumped by around a third last year.

Some 200 deaths abroad were reported to the consular section of the Department of Foreign Affairs in 2008 – a 33% jump on the 2007 reported total of 150.
