Police appeal after knife murder

Murder squad detectives tonight renewed their appeal for information after a young man was murdered in a knife attack.

Stephen Quigley, 24, was found in a laneway near his home in Dundalk, Co Louth shortly before midnight on Saturday.

His throat had been cut.

Gardaí appealed for anyone who was in the Woodbury Gardens or Avenue Road area of the town between 11pm and midnight last Saturday to contact them.

A post mortem was carried out on Mr Quigley’s body by Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis who found he died from stab wounds.

Mr Quigley was originally from the Kilkerley area of Dundalk.

A maroon-coloured Renault Megane found at Greenacres shopping centre was sealed off after the body was found and forensically examined by garda crime scene investigators.

It is believed Mr Quigley may have been in the car before he was attacked or his body was driven to the estate before being dumped in the alley.

Gardaí said no arrests had been made and no murder weapon had been recovered.
