Number of traffic accident deaths at new low

Some 275 people have been killed on Irish roads so far this year, a drop of 63 compared to last year, official figures revealed today.

In its New Year road safety message, the garda traffic corps warned motorists of complacency behind the wheel after 173,251 drivers were caught speeding in the last 12 months.
