Major road safety campaign continues
The annual Garda Christmas Road Safety campaign is continuing into the New Year.
For every person killed on Irish roads, there are up to nine serious injuries, according to the force.
Random checkpoints have been mounted on roads across the country, which are considered to be the most dangerous.
The Road Safety Authority is also running a campaign which will run until the end of January called 'Crashed Lives'.
It focuses on the impact on family and friends left behind after someone dies in a crash.
