Pensioner's death in the North 'suspicious'
Police were called after the body of a pensioner was found at her home today.
Forensic experts also examined the terraced house at lower Dublin Road in Newry, Co Down.
Family members became alarmed when the woman, who was in her 80s, failed to answer her door or telephone calls.
She lived on her own and it is understood she had been planning to spend the day with a relative.
Mickey Brady, a Sinn Féin member of Newry and Mourne Council said police told him they were treating the death as “suspicious”.
He added: “The family is in a deep state of shock. Hopefully the police will be able to establish the cause of death as soon as possible.”
No one at the Police Service of Northern Ireland was available for comment.
