Hundreds of pupils were evacuated from their school today when workmen unearthed what they believed to be an unexploded Second World War mortar bomb in the grounds.

Hundreds of pupils were evacuated from their school today when workmen unearthed what they believed to be an unexploded Second World War mortar bomb in the grounds.

The device was found at Bangor Academy in Bangor, Co Down, forcing the school to be cleared and several surrounding town centre streets to be closed off.
