Bottled water withdrawn amid contamination fears

Bottled water has reportedly been removed from shop shelves after tests raised concerns about possible human or animal waste contamination.

Reports this morning say the tests found bacteria indicating possible faecal contamination in bottled waters supplied by Shannon Minerals.

Batches of the water on shelves in Superquinn, Lidl and Aldi have now been pulled from sale by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland.

Some of the water was sold before the withdrawal was ordered, but the FSAI says there is no risk to public health.
