Coastguard search for trawler off Donegal coast

The coastguard launched a major search off the coast of Donegal this afternoon for a trawler with three people on board.

The vessel departed on a passage from Killybegs to Rossaveal on Wednesday but failed to arrive.

A helicopter and spotter plane were sent to the area as south-west gale force winds strengthened but found no sign of the vessel.

The search was called off and will resume at first light in the morning.
