Gardaí investigating the killing of Dublin man Aidan O' Kane have found a handgun and ammunition.

Gardaí investigating the killing of Dublin man Aidan O' Kane have found a handgun and ammunition.

The discovery was made during the search of houses in the north inner city yesterday.

A quantity of illegal drugs was also found.

Forensic and ballistics tests will be carried out on the weapon.

The 50-year-old father of one was shot in the Bargy Road area of East Wall on Sunday night after he chased a group of teenagers from his home.

He died a short time later in the Mater Hospital.

A 16-year-old boy has been remanded in custody charged with Mr O'Kane's murder.
