21 countries affected by pork contamination scare
The European Commission says 12 EU member states and nine other countries have been affected by the contamination scare surrounding Irish pork.
Irish pork and bacon products are being withdrawn from sale worldwide following confirmation that feed supplied to a number of farms has been contaminated with dioxins.
The entire industry has been shut down in response to the scare.
The Irish Farmers Association says it hopes the processing of pork can resume tomorrow, with products back on the shelves within two or three days.
However, it says it will take a lot longer to repair the reputation of the Irish pork industry.
