Men account for most calls to loneliness helpline

Men accounted for more than half the people who contacted a special loneliness helpline in Cork and Kerry last year.

Men accounted for more than half the people who contacted a special loneliness helpline in Cork and Kerry last year.

The Farm and Rural Stress Helpline says 62% of callers were single and 41% suffered from depression and suicidal thoughts.

The helpline was set up by the HSE four years ago and received 325 calls last year.
