EU experts to discuss response to Irish pork scare
The European Commission has called a meeting of food safety experts to co-ordinate an EU-wide response to the Irish pork contamination scare.
The experts will meet tomorrow to discuss the best course of action to take following the revelation that tens of thousands of Irish pigs may have been eating feed contaminated with dioxins.
Irish pork and bacon products are being removed from sale across the world as a result.
The Irish Farmers Association says the crisis has come at a bad time for livestock farmers, but the Government is taking the right steps to address the situation.
