Gardaí update minister on Limerick investigations

The Minister for Justice Dermot Ahern has said he is encouraged by the progress gardaí in Limerick are making against gangland criminality in the city.

The Minister for Justice Dermot Ahern has said he is encouraged by the progress gardaí in Limerick are making against gangland criminality in the city.

Mr Ahern met with the Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy and senior Limerick gardaí at Roxboro station today.

He was updated on ongoing investigations, including that of 28-year-old Shane Geoghegan, who was murdered in a case of mistaken identity last month.

The minister said he is confident gangland activity in the city is being targeted.
