A Sinn Féin minister in the North has been warned of an attempt to murder him by loyalist paramilitaries.

Regional Development Minister Conor Murphy has been told by the police that loyalists tried to kill him over the weekend.

The Newry and Armagh MP says the failed bid was perpetrated by a group called the Orange Volunteers.

Sinn Féin says it is taking the incident seriously.
