The head of Libertas says his group wants to turn next year's European elections into a proxy referendum on Europe.

Declan Ganley has confirmed that his organisation has applied to the European Parliament for funding.

The group - which was central to the No campaign in the Lisbon treaty referendum - has set up a Brussels office and is recruiting candidates across the EU.

Libertas wants to raise €75m across members states ahead of the elections.
