A woman being questioned by Gardaí in connection with the suspected murder of a man in Co Westmeath 21 years ago has been released without charge.

A woman being questioned by Gardaí in connection with the suspected murder of a man in Co Westmeath 21 years ago has been released without charge.

43-year-old Brian McGrath disappeared in 1987 - six years later human remains were found buried in a field in the Coole area.

Yesterday morning Gardaí arrested a woman in her sixties in Coole who was questioned at Mullingar Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

She was released without charge last night and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
