Almost five people a day sought help for sexual abuse last year, shocking new figures revealed today, while 454 women contacted the Rape Crisis Network Ireland (RCNI) after being raped.

Even though the group’s latest annual statistics revealed 1,691 people came to them for help, experts warned only a fifth of victims reported sex crimes to gardaí.
