Aer Lingus strike talks adjourned

Today’s talks at the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) aimed at averting strike action at Aer Lingus have been adjourned.

The discussions have been ongoing over the weekend as Aer Lingus and SIPTU try to come to an agreement over proposed cost-cutting measures.

The airline's plans would see the outsourcing of around 1,300 jobs.

They estimate the outsourcing would save up to €50m in staff costs.

The LRC is due to report any progress made over the past three days to the National Implementation Body tomorrow.

If no resolution is found, SIPTU could begin work stoppages or an all-out strike tomorrow week.
