One fifth of family carers 'suffer from depression'

Almost one in five family carers in Ireland suffers from depression, according to the Irish College of Psychiatrists.

Almost one in five family carers in Ireland suffers from depression, according to the Irish College of Psychiatrists.

The organisation says 25% of carers have anxiety problems, while more than one quarter suffer with back injury.

It also says 68% of carers who are diagnosed with depression feel that their condition has worsened because of their caring roles.
