Suspect device found in Waterford 'was viable'
The Defence Forces have said that a suspect device found in Waterford city earlier this afternoon was viable.
It was discovered when a car was stopped on Catherine Street at around 2pm.
The device has been dismantled, and the scene was declared safe at 5pm.
Five men have been arrested and are being questioned at Tramore and Waterford City garda stations.
Meanwhile, two alerts in Killester and Ballymount in Dublin earlier today have both been declared hoaxes.
Gardaí are also continuing to question two men and two women arrested in connection with the discovery of a suspect device outside Shell headquarters in Dublin on September 9.
